Ricardo de la Riva Goded graduated by the great Master Carlson Gracie, he began to train jiu-jitsu in January of 1980, with 15 years old, under the influence of the his friend Marcos Vinícius, also pupil of Carlson.

Since the beginning, De La Riva already demonstrated an enormous skill for the sport and still in the blue-belt, he was helping his Master Carlson Gracie to administer his classrooms, till in 1986 it conquered the black-belt.

It was from this time that his great registered trademark was known: the legendary "De La Riva Guard" that allied to a classic and offensive struggle style turned it into one of the biggest lively references of the sport.

Great part of this knowledge came through historical struggles and indisputable victories against great adversaries like Royce Gracie, Royler Gracie and Rolker Gracie, costing to emphasize that he defeated Rolker and Royce in the same competition and Royler for two times.

In 1993 he made a not schedule planned stop in the competitions to be dedicated exclusively to his pupils having formed or helped in the formation of several champions of jiu-jitsu and MMA like Rodrigo Minotauro, Rogério Minotouro, Marcelo Grosso among others.

In December of 1998 he returned to the competitions in a competition of grappling in the USA where it faced and defeated his opponent, Shane Dun (much heavier) with certain easiness, 21 x 2 on behalf of the Master.

In the middle of the year of Main 2002, De La Riva disputed the Worldwide Championship of Jiu-jitsu with 37 years old, losing only in the semifinal for an adversary almost 20 years newer. It conquered then the bronze medal and motivation to retake the run in the competitions.

Giulio Timoteo studied jiu-jitsu with Carlson Gracie Team most of his life, after the death of Carlson Gracie Sr. in 2005, he joined the De La Riva Team, being graduated to Black Belt back in 2006.

Since then, his legacy continues...
